Inspection of Highland Type Female Cattle
Members must use this form to request Council's inspection of a female "Highland Type" where seeking Grade C Registration of a Female "Highland Type" animal under AHCS Regulation 4.4.
DNA Requirements for Grade C Inspection Animals:
ALL animals seeking Grade C Inspection and Registration must be accompanied by a hair or TSU sample for the purpose of establishing a DNA profile for the animal.
The DNA sample of each animal for Grade C Inspection and Registration must be collected prior to completing this registration form as you will need to include the Barcode ID of the sample collector in this form.
Grade C Animal Registrations do not require parent verification, the purpose of the DNA sample is for profiling only.
This form will calculate the fee for DNA SireTRACE (profile) for each Grade C animal.
If you have already completed a SNP Profile for your animal, please contact the AHCS Office to advise and discuss options for this.
Where to send your samples:
Samples must be sent to the AHCS Registrar at the following address:
AHCS, C/- Agri Elements, PO Box 194, St Agnes SA 5097
Samples not sent directly to the Registrar will incur delays with animal registration, and may require additional samples to be obtained and sent to the AHCS as required.
Please clearly label each sample with either Animal Name, NLIS ID or Herdbook Number to ensure it can be easily identified.

Inspection & Registration Fees:
The form will auto-calculate the fees required based on the information you submit, including the fees required for DNA parent verification.
Payment of all fees is required upfront, the preferred method of payment is credit card. If you select "pay later by EFT/Cheque", you will be required to make payment of fees owing before we proceed with any parent verification and registration.
The following fees apply for Grade C Inspection and Registration:
- AHCS Animal Registration Fee (includes inspection) = $40.00 incl GST per animal
- SireTRACE Zoetis AU SNP Profile = $33.00 incl GST per sample / animal
Timeframe:
Please allow 6 weeks from submission of your registration form where samples are received within 7 days of registration form submission, to parent verification completion by Zoetis and registration processing by the AHCS Registrar.
Delays in posting samples to the Registrar, obtaining an inadequate sample, or where parents are not verified by DNA may be cause for delay in registration of your animals.
The AHCS Registrar will make contact with you if there are any queries regarding your registration submission or DNA samples.
Information required to complete form:
You will be required to include/upload the following in this form, it is advisable to have this ready before you begin:
- Clear photographs of the body from all sides, head and horns for each animal; and
- A DNA Sample of the Animal you wish to apply for Grade C Inspection.
Other helpful information:
- Up to 10 Animals can be submitted for Grade C Inspection on this form.
- Details entered will be saved automatically and you can return to complete and submit later if required.

- A summary of your form submission will be emailed to you for record once submitted.
All applications will be reviewed and submitted to Council for a decision. Members will be notified by email once a decision has been made.
